Your opinion of Rudd as “useless” is fair enough (it’s an opinion after all), except you seem to have swiftly forgotten the pre-Rudd offering. Now THAT was useless. At least Rudd will help win some seats off the Libs, if not the government itself (which he won’t, and if that’s what you mean by useless, then fair enough again!).

Alan Ramsay said it best in his column today: “Now we come to Kevin Michael Rudd, who bids to be Australia’s Tony Blair, if not Labor’s very own John Howard”.
