do the right thing

This post is dedicated to nicholas keys because he also gets annoyed at how mediocre and reactionary people can be.

I found this note taped to a woolworths trolley in a laneway in double pay.
if I was that ‘lazy prick’, I’m not sure I’d waste my energy going back to the trolley I’d dumped. But hey, that’s just me.
The person who left the note was obviously so horrified at the civil disobedience, that he just couldn’t help but help. To that person I say this. ‘you are a fucken hero, you’re the guy at tiananmen square’.

i recognise the back of your head
i don’t want to, but I do.

i recognise this little bin of cancelled flesh
skin with deep canals that water does not remember
i recognise the moles grazing, half savage with black pelt
acid sweat and greasy hair

i try not to picture your face
the sores around your eyes that never heal
lips like two thin stones

i am nervous that at the next stop you will turn around
and your eyes will meet my eyes
so i drag my eyes down the back of the seat
then to the floor

one pre-loved travel ten
one empty tally ho packet with a green tongue
with my attention elsewhere I am ageless
changeless, fleshless and made free

then the stop
my deus ex machina

you are gone

theory of unknowing art

I collect found art.
Letters, drawings, notes, conversations.
I also make art.
I believe your environment profoundly influences the way you contemplate art. I’ve been thinking about this alot lately. The way individuals weave art into the everydayness of life, often making art (objects or concepts) without knowing they’re doing so. I battle with this idea because while i believe in a holistic, process orientated approach to art making and am totally absorbed in how my work develops, from it’s conception, through its construction and in it’s exhibition, I also believe objects affect, and are affected by their spacial, temporal and contextual environments.

This blog is dedicated to the art i find and the art i make. And the ever-growing indistinguishability between the two.
